About Hiraoka Tree Art Center

• A Sapporo arboretum opened in 1984, affectionately known as "Midorium." Approximately 3,000 trees are planted on its 2.9-hectare grounds.
• Known as one of Sapporo's leading autumn foliage spots, the Japanese garden-style row of Nomura maple trees is particularly popular as the "Autumn Foliage Tunnel."
• Approximately 100 Nomura maples are planted along an 800m path. The best viewing time is typically from late October to early November. The corridor, dyed crimson, offers breathtaking beauty.
• The park is open from late April to early November, 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Admission is free, and the autumn foliage season attracts many photographers and tourists.
• Located in a residential area of Kiyota Ward, it's a hidden gem easily accessible, about a 10-minute bus ride from Oyachi Station on the Tozai Subway Line.

About the Photographer

Yoshihiro Abiko — Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1989. Became passionate about photography after moving to Chitose City, Hokkaido in 2016. Was so moved by the magnificent scenery that appeared before him at Lake Shikotsu on his first drive that he picked up a camera. He continues to capture the grandeur of nature and the resilient wildlife within it with beautiful light, and was selected as one of Tokyo Camera Club's Top 10 in 2019. Currently resides in Kamifurano Town, Hokkaido, and also works as an official Sony photographer.
