Our Story
TAISETSU Coffee was founded in 2013. It was born from "Roaster Coaster," a self-roasting coffee shop in Higashikawa Town, a small town in Hokkaido.
Every day, "Roaster Coaster" welcomes many locals, tourists, and international students who come to enjoy coffee and conversation.
Although it's a small shop in a small town in Hokkaido, if we offered drip coffee, more people could enjoy it in various places! At home, while traveling, or as a souvenir. We want to deliver moments of blissful relaxation to people around the world with coffee infused with Hokkaido's delicious air and heartfelt original packaging! With this wish, TAISETSU Coffee began.
The "A" in "TAISETSU Coffee" stands for "Daisetsu Mountain."
The majestic Daisetsu Mountain Range, stretching across central Hokkaido, is its motif.
"TAISETSU" also means "precious." Precious water, precious nature, and precious human connections.

Our packaging, featuring photos of Hokkaido's wildlife and the grand nature spreading across a small town, envelops your coffee time in a special atmosphere.

The owner of the shop, Carl Wilcock, is from Yorkshire, a small town in England. He chose Higashikawa as the place to live with his wife and two daughters because the scenery and natural environment were very similar to his hometown.
Higashikawa Town has a population of about 8,000. It is one of Japan's most water-rich towns, where the entire town lives on natural water, and all rice is grown with underground water from the mountains. The rural landscape spreading across the town is its treasure.

Even though it's a small town, the reason 1 million tourists visit each year is, after all, "Daisetsu Mountain." It is the town's symbol where visitors can fully enjoy Hokkaido's great nature in both summer and winter. Summer cycling and triathlons. Autumn's sparkling autumn leaves and winter's powder snow. The quality of the snow is so good that snowboarders from all over the world fall in love with it.

TAISETSU Coffee hopes to be a coffee that resonates with many people, whether it's a single cup of drip coffee serving as a travel memory, a postcard conveying the scenery of a destination, something to enjoy outdoors, or an item for expressing gratitude.
