About the Photographer

Natsumi Handa - Born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido in 1986. While working as a nurse, she photographs Hokkaido's wild animals after night shifts and on her days off. She began photography in 2013 and has won numerous awards in national and international photography contests, including 2nd place in the National Award (Japan) at the "Sony World Photography Awards 2017." She has published photo books "Pirka" and "Kamuy," capturing the beautiful fur, adorable expressions, and the cycle of life of animals.

Tono-kun stands amidst the beautiful autumn leaves of Hokkaido. This photo harmonizes the autumn-colored background with the warm coat color of the Shiba Inu.
